EDF Pulse, What is it ?
Since 2014, the EDF Pulse Awards have aimed to support innovation to accelerate carbon neutrality by 2050, offering opportunities to start-ups worldwide. These awards have expanded to local editions in France and internationally, increasing their regional impact.
Among these initiatives, EDF Pulse Africa stands out by helping African start-ups develop innovative energy solutions. Programs like the EDF Pulse Africa Tour, launched in 2019, energize the local ecosystem and promote high-impact projects across the continent.
Success Story
Diwa Innovation, Winner of the EDF Pulse Africa 2023 Awards
Diwa Innovation (Cameroon), the winner of this edition, designs energy-autonomous refrigerators using terracotta and photovoltaic solar power. In addition to the "Jury's Favorite" award, in partnership with HEC Paris, the start-up benefits from personalized support and has won €20,000 to develop a pilot project.
EDF's Investment in Standard Microgrid
To expand its mini-grid offering, EDF International acquired a 12% stake in Standard Microgrid Initiatives Limited in 2020. This start-up develops and installs mini-grids using standardized container solutions and smart meters, enabling the sale of energy blocks on demand.
Pilot Project with My Energy Clever
EDF International contributed to a pilot project by My Energy Clever, the winner of EDF Pulse Africa 2021. This Cameroonian start-up helps its users improve energy efficiency and reduce their energy consumption levels.
